The poet and editor of Birds, LLC (which I've often discussed here), Sampson Starkweather, is being featured this week on HTML GIANT. His new book is THE FIRST FOUR BOOKS OF SAMPSON STARKWEATHER and that sort of book deserves this sort of deadly dark-water week. Within this great white shark is the four smaller sharks. (totally, actually FIVE sharks, but we won't quibble.)
I illustrated the cover of shark 1: King of the Forest.

If you haven't yet, you should totally order this book and read it. For now, indulge in my exploration of creative process and collaboration in friendship. Keep an eye out all week for the other amazing pieces by friends and colleges of Starkweather. HERE.

Poetry Interview & Essay

Poetry Magazine is doing a series called "Remembering Poets" and I was lucky enough to have the chance to write a short piece on Ruth Stone for the current issue. You can read the whole essay on Poetry Foundation's website. Also, Don Share and Christian Wiman interviewed me for their Poetry podcast, and I had a chance to expand on some of those memories, as well as read Ruth's poem 1941 (which is a stunner). Be sure to check it out!
