List of Awesome

1. I've fumbled prosaically through a song-of-the-week on Coldfront, featuring Anais Mitchell! I'm wild about her stuff.

See my words HERE.

2. How about this AMAZING needlepoint someone did?!

3. Did you notice that poetrycomics.com is the new domain name? I'm so proud that I finally pulled that together after giving up on trying (and totally failing) to maintain the old poetrycomics.com site. I like the blogspot so much better because I suck at HTML. Don't you think I've pruned and culled and maintained this fairly well? O, and next month I have some exciting things I'm adding to the store: Merchandise! In tasteful little gift packages. And each one will be unique.

4. My Christmas present from my loving boss got lost in the mail, and has finally arrived. Just in time to butcher my post-holiday dieting....but how awesome is it? And how well does she know me?! <3 a="" and="" are="" book="" books="" house="" href="http://newpagesblog.blogspot.com/2012/12/tin-house-and-octopus-collaborate-on.html" my="" octopus="" of="" publishing="" target="_blank" tin="">poetry

Ana Božičević's RISE IN THE FALL is Here

I'm so thrilled to have illustrated Ana Božičević's new book of poetry from  Birds LLC, RISE IN THE FALL. Getting to know her poems was like getting to know a new city where, the more I hang out in its bars, and scour its museums, the more I want to move to it. The "Metropolis of Ana Poetry" is vast, dangerous, damn classy, and smart. The voice in the poems possesses you. It's Jone of Arc in our midst, having a glass of Johnny Walker Black and a cigarette.

So, I assure you, this post is only
half bragging about my part in the creation of RISE IN THE FALL.  But to able to collaborate with someone, I feel I need to love the work. And not just that: the work has to allow me in--in that certain, nebulous way that things speak to the muse. Communicating visually with someone's text is an enormous challenge. It takes the right kind of souls. Go to the Birds website and look at samples of inside the book. And order your copies now!!

Things To Look At

1. Ben Pease has an amazing poem up on HTML Giant, in honor of a project we were both part of, along with quite a few amazing poets. Each poet composed a poem in relation to a Tarot card.

Ben was The Chariot. I was The Sun.

2. Super excited about Bridge Journal publishing a small chapbook of a collaboration I did. More info soon on that....

3. Check our Sasha Fletcher's poems on Poor Claudia crush this week. Awesome.

"There are days I feel like waking up and discovering
I am pretty enough to be strapped
to the prow of a ship."

(....It just goes beautifully from there.)
